: I am not big on Jr High kids "cutting" weight, but it is something they are going to have to get used to for HS and beyond, so what I would like to do, is help educate wrestlers and parents on eating habits. The kids don't have to, and shouldn't be skipping meals to make weight, it is a matter of improving their diets and managing their portions. Grilled chicken and fish are a great source of protien without a lot of the fat that will come with many meats and main courses. As side dishes, steamed vegetables (which may sound gross to the kids, but some are very good) are suggested, like broccoli and coliflower. Stay away from fried stuff, fatty things like sausage and ground chuck, and large portions. The school lunches probably aren't the best thing for weight conscious wrestlers, so packing a lunch is my suggestion. Chicken, tuna, and seafood salad, light on the "lowfat" mayo are good, and a piece of fruit to go along with it and we're golden. I'm no nutritiounalist, but I've cut enough weight the right way, and the wrong way to know what works, so good luck and any other tips, feel free to send them my way.
